Run Your Race to Honor Christ

1. Heb. 12:1 says “we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses.” Who are these witnesses? Why would the writer of Hebrews refer back to these witnesses? What message does he seek to convey to the believer in Christ?

2. Verse 1 also says “let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles” … The Christian life is compared to a foot race here. What hindrances to Christians confront in the race? How shall we overcome these obstacles?

3. Verse 2 says “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus …” and verse 3 says “Consider Him …” Jesus is not only our Lord and Savior, He is also our supreme example as we endeavor to run this race. In what ways is Christ our example?

4. On a more personal level: How have you been running in your race? What is the goal of your life? What are the sins that have been slowing you down? What steps does God want you to take today so that you may run your race to honor Him?
